SWCC staff members with SWCC All-Academic selections

Southwestern Community College (SWCC) students Rebekah Kroese of Lenox, Selena Sampson of Creston, and Ana Vasquez of Osceola, were honored as members of the 2017 All-Iowa Academic Team during a recognition ceremony held Wed., March 1, 2017, at 6:30 p.m., at the Embassy Suites in Des Moines.

Kroese, a 2016 graduate of Lenox High School, is majoring in psychology.  She is a SWCC Education Foundation scholarship recipient, has been on the President’s List, and is a member of Phi Theta Kappa.  Following her time at SWCC, she plans to transfer to Simpson College in Indianola.

Sampson, a 2016 graduate of Creston High School, is majoring in nursing.  She was a 2016 Bright Scholar, is the recorder for SWCC’s Phi Theta Kappa chapter, is a Creston volunteer fire fighter, and was the recipient of the Karen and Cody Shay ETS scholarship.  Sampson is currently completing SWCC’s licensed practical nursing program.  Then, she will continue on to SWCC’s registered nursing program.  After completing her Associate of Applied Science degree at SWCC, Sampson plans to transfer to the University of Iowa to complete her bachelor’s degree in nursing.

Vasquez, a 2013 graduate of Clarke Community High School in Osceola, is majoring in business administration/business leadership.  She received the Osceola Center leadership award, has been named to the President’s List, and is a member of Phi Theta Kappa.  Upon graduation from SWCC, Vasquez plans to transfer to Buena Vista University.

Phi Theta Kappa International serves to recognize and encourage the academic achievement of two-year college students worldwide.  Beta Eta Nu is SWCC’s chapter of Phi Theta Kappa.
