For the second year in a row, the LifePoint Assembly of God Church, in Osceola, donated to the Southwestern Community College (SWCC) Education Foundation for the purpose of scholarships to assist Osceola Center students who are completing the High School Equivalency Diploma (HSED).
Last year, the church gave $300. This year, the church increased their donation to $500.
Chuck DeVos, LifePoint Assembly of God pastor, said when the church leaders met they talked about the importance of distributing funds in order to have the greatest impact and decided they wanted to do more.
"I have the best job in the world," DeVos stated. "I get to serve great people who truly care ... This year we have elected to provide $500 to be used for scholarships for those who can't afford to pursue their GED [HSED]."
