The Walking School Bus kicked off in April 2018 for students in Red Oak, Villisca, and Stanton. Through this program, students walk to school for six weeks promoting physical activity, safety, and a healthy lifestyle.

In Red Oak, students were walked to afterschool programs including Literacy at the Red Oak Library, hosted by the Red Oak Library and Questers-Calendar Girls 1254, and Wellness at the YMCA, hosted by the Montgomery County Memorial Hospital and the Red Oak YMCA.
