Stop by the library or the registers at the Spartan Cafe to “vote” with your coins and dollar bills to decide which SWCC employee should get a Pie in the Face during halftime of the men’s basketball game on Saturday, Feb. 24, at 3 p.m. vs. Kirkwood!

Southwestern employees on the ballot for a Pie in the Face include Trey Bruton, cross country coach; Rena Cheers, nursing instructor; Kelly Franklin, English instructor; Addae Houston, women’s basketball coach and TRIO/SSS advising coach; and Mindy Skarda, biology instructor.

Pie in the Face is a fundraiser for Beta Eta Nu, SWCC’s Phi Theta Kappa chapter. To vote, individuals will place their monetary donations (coins or bills) into a canister for the recipient of their choice. The individual who raises the most funds will earn a Pie in the Face. The day of the basketball game, Feb. 24, individuals will also have the opportunity to purchase a ticket/s to be in a drawing to be the pie thrower for the event. Chances for this opportunity will be $1 per ticket. The drawing for pie throwers will take place at halftime with the Pie in the Face event to follow.

Funds raised will assist Beta Eta Nu Chapter members and their advisor in attending 2018 Catalyst, the annual convention for Phi Theta Kappa International Honor Society, being held in Kansas City, MO, in April. As this is the 100th anniversary of Phi Theta Kappa this will be a special convention that will allow members to meet and interact with other members from inside and outside the U.S.
