The Real Group

Creston, IOWA—One of the finest vocal groups in the world, The Real Group, is flying from Sweden directly to Creston to headline the inaugural SMV (School for Music Vocations) Real Group Festival on April 6 and 7, 2018, at Southwestern Community College (SWCC). This is the first festival of its kind in the United States, and The Real Group selected Creston as its home.

During the festival, The Real Group will perform two concerts on Friday, April 6, at 7 p.m. and 9:15 p.m., at the SWCC Performing Arts Center. Festival participants have first priority at the evening concerts. Limited tickets will be available to the public each night at a cost of $25 per ticket at the 7 p.m. concert, $21 per ticket at the 9:15 p.m. concert, or $40 for tickets to both concerts.

The Real Group has been a professional music ensemble since its formation in 1984. They remain one of the leading forces in the world of vocal music and a cappella singing (without instruments). Their combination of perfection, personal touch and their wide repertoire have made it possible for the group to collaborate with symphony orchestras, jazz groups, pop bands and international artists.

According to Dr. Jeremy Fox, SWCC professional music instructor and one of the event organizers, this year’s vocal festival will be the college’s largest festival to-date. The event will encompass two full days of clinics and hands-on workshops. 40 high school and college ensembles from across eight states will participate in the festival.
