The community is invited to attend a retirement reception in honor of Dr. Barb Crittenden, Southwestern Community College president, on Thursday, June 24, from 2-4 p.m., in the Allied Health & Science Center on the SWCC Creston campus, 1501 W. Townline Street, Creston.

This is a casual come-and-go event with refreshments and time for reminiscing.

Crittenden is retiring from Southwestern in late-July after nearly 40 years with the college. Dr. Marjorie McGuire-Welch has been named her replacement. McGuire-Welch will start her position June 28.

There will be a scholarship established through the Southwestern Community College Education Foundation in honor of Crittenden. All contributions will be utilized to award scholarships to Southwestern students. To give to the scholarship online, please complete the Online Giving form and select "Dr. Barb Crittenden Scholarship" when asked the designation. The SWCC Education Foundation has a tax exempt status under section 501(c)3; therefore, a gift to the foundation is considered tax deductible to the extent allowable by law.
