Creston— The Southwestern Community College (SWCC) board of trustees met electronically on Tuesday, Jan. 11, 2022, at 5:30 p.m., for their regular monthly board meeting.

Tia Samo, SWCC chief financial officer, spoke to the board regarding the resolution regarding the refunding of two outstanding dorm revenue bonds. This topic has been on the board agenda for the past two months. Samo explained that by passing the resolution the board would be setting the date for the sale of the bonds. Following Samo’s presentation, by a roll call vote, the board approved the resolution. The date of the sale will be Feb. 8, 2022. The aggregate amount of the bonds is approximately $5.4 million.

Jerry Smith, board member from Osceola and Iowa Association of Community College Trustees (IACCT) representative, reported the next IACCT meeting will be held January 27.
