Last Thursday, April 21, 2022, at 2 p.m., in the Allied Health & Science Center on the Creston campus, Southwestern Community College (SWCC) and the University of Iowa nursing department celebrated the new RN to BSN SWCC/IOWA 3+1 articulation agreement with a signing ceremony.

Speakers during the event included Maureen Weaver, SWCC nursing department chair; Dr. Marjorie McGuire-Welch, SWCC president; and Dr. Julie Zerwic, University of Iowa College of Nursing dean.

This partnership agreement will allow SWCC nursing graduates to complete their Bachelor of Science in Nursing degrees with just one additional year of college. During their time at Southwestern, students will complete the licensed practical nursing program, the Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) program, and earn either the Associate of Arts or Associate of Science degrees. A benefit to this program is that the student will complete their classes at the University of Iowa online so they may continue working and living at home.
