May 10, 2022, CRESTON, IOWA--The W.D. and Shirley Schaffer-Ray Educational Trust awarded more than $95,000 to 19 local scholarship recipients. Nine of these students will be enrolled at SWCC this fall.
All recipients are residents of Adair, Adams, Taylor, or Union County and range from high school seniors to students enrolled in a doctorate program.
Two committees were established to review and select scholarship recipients on behalf of the Ray’s educational trust. Southwestern Community College reviewed and distributed scholarships to students attending SWCC next fall. As Trustee, Iowa State Savings Bank reviewed and selected recipients attending any accredited United States college or university next fall.

The W.D. and Shirley Schaffer-Ray Educational Trust was established to help local students achieve their own unique educational goals. This is an annual scholarship that will provide significant opportunities for high school seniors and college students.
Iowa State Savings Bank is humbled to serve as trustee for the W.D. and Shirley Schaffer-Ray Educational Trust, oversee the scholarship process, and help continue the Ray’s legacy.
