Students in Southwestern's environmental science class took a field trip Monday, March 28, 2022, to the Corning solar farm.
Students learned that the 11-acre farm generates about two megawatts of power per year, which would be enough to power about 400 homes. While at the site, students learned how small changes in the amount of light changed power output, the maintenance required, and that the panels can withstand golf ball-sized hail.

Thanks to Pat Mattison from CIPCO for setting up and conducting the tour.
