Experience Southwestern, originally planned for Aug. 2, 10 a.m.-2 p.m., at the Southwestern Community College (SWCC) Creston campus, is being postponed to Thursday, Aug. 3, 10 a.m.-2 p.m., to permit SWCC faculty and staff to attend the visitation and funeral for Ella Leonard of Winterset, who passed away on July 23, 2023, following injuries sustained in a car accident with other SWCC students. In addition, the Creston campus will be closed Aug. 2 to permit employees to attend the visitation and funeral.
Times and locations will remain the same for the Experience Southwestern event on Aug. 3. All participants will be contacted by email and text to notify them of the date change. Participants are asked to acknowledge the SWCC message so college personnel can verify the message has been received and note the next date they are able to attend. If acknowledgement from the student is not received, college personnel will be contacting these future SWCC students by phone on Friday, July 28.
The Osceola and Red Oak Centers will remain open on Wednesday, Aug. 2, and the Osceola Center Open House and High School Orientation will proceed as planned.
