May 19, 2025, CRESTON, Iowa—Southwestern Community College (SWCC) auto collision repair/refinish student Devon Hill of Creston and future SWCC student Logan Nunnikhoven of Pella have been named as 2025 SWCC Gordon Bills Auto Body Scholarship recipients through the SWCC Education Foundation.
Hill, a 2024 Creston High School graduate, and Nunnikhoven, a 2025 Pella Christian High School graduate, were each awarded $1,000 scholarships, to be used during the 2025-26 academic year at SWCC.
The Gordon Bills Auto Body Scholarship was established through SWCC’s Education Foundation to honor Bill’s legacy after he passed away on March 15, 2022. Gordon “G.B.” Bills moved to Creston in 1966 to become the first instructor for the new auto body program at Southwestern Community College. Bills took great pride in the program and was truly a lifetime supporter of Southwestern.
Kevin Bills, Gordon’s son, works at SWCC as a collision repair lab assistant. The auto body program at SWCC is now referred to as auto collision repair/refinish. Students may earn a one-year diploma or a two-year Associate of Applied Science degree.
