SWCC and Northwest representatives with grant check

Oct. 14, 2025, CRESTON, Iowa—Northwest Bank has awarded a $12,000 Community College Arts and Culture Grant to Southwestern Community College (SWCC) to enhance activities provided by the college’s art and professional music departments.

Tobi Crawford, SWCC professional music instructor, and Kelly Devitt, SWCC art instructor, wrote the grant, titled Visiting Voices: Guest Artist & Musician Residency Series, to bring professional artists and musicians to the SWCC Creston campus; to facilitate interactive workshops, lectures, and hands-on sessions for students; and to offer accessible public programming, such as performances, exhibitions, and discussions.

The mission of the Community College Arts and Culture grants is to provide community colleges in cities with a population of less than 30,000 and a Northwest Bank with grants to support new arts and culture initiatives. Arts and culture are defined as art (visual or applied), dance, theater/drama, vocal music, band, and speech.
