Three Southwestern Community College (SWCC) students – Dylan Anson, Jocelyn Burkhalter, and Franklin Pastorino – have been honored as members of the 2025 Phi Theta Kappa (PTK) Honor Society All-Iowa Academic Team. The announcement was made by Community Colleges for Iowa, who officially recognized the students at a banquet held in Des Moines on Feb. 18.

These students are among 79 recipients of this prestigious recognition from 15 community colleges across Iowa. Their colleges nominated them for their achievements in personal improvement, contributions to their institutions, and service to their communities.

Anson is an electrical technology student who will earn his Associate of Applied Science degree in spring 2025. He has made the Dean’s List each semester throughout his college career. In the next three years, he plans to complete his electrical apprenticeship and obtain his Class A journeyman license.
