CRESTON—Are you a high school senior looking for help completing your Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) forms for college this fall?  If so, plan to attend the TRIO Educational Talent Search (ETS) program’s ninth annual Dinner & a FAFSA Night.

ETS student participants and their parents may set individual appointments at Southwestern Community College (SWCC) in Creston on Wednesday, February 22, 2012.  Appointments will be scheduled between 4 and 7 p.m. and last approximately 30 minutes.  Students are not required to attend SWCC to register for the event.

The goal of the evening is to help students and their parents complete the FAFSA with the help of the ETS staff and SWCC’s financial aid department.  The FAFSA is a form used in applying for federal student aid such as grants, loans, and work-study.  During this workshop, students and their parents may either file their FAFSA on-line or complete the paper and pencil version.

The deadline for registration is Monday, February 20, 2012.  Students can sign up through their local school’s ETS advisor or by calling 800.247.4023, ext. 392, or 641.782.1392.

High schools in Area 14 participating in the ETS program include Clarke, Murray, East Union, Creston, Lenox, Orient-Macksburg, Corning, Bedford, and Villisca.  Dinner will be provided for all who attend.

TRIO Educational Talent Search is 100 percent federally funded by the U.S. Department of Education.  More than 800 students are served by Area 14’s ETS program.  The office is located on SWCC’s Creston campus.
