Cook Randy WebCreston, IA—Southwestern Community College (SWCC) has announced Creston’s Randy Cook will be the college’s next chief financial officer (CFO), replacing Teresa Krejci, who recently relocated to Des Moines after serving as the college’s CFO since 1997.

Cook, a certified public accountant, received his bachelor’s degree in accounting in 1987 from Northwest Missouri State University.  He has been employed as an audit manager by Draper, Snodgrass, Mikkelsen & Co., P.C. since June 1994.  Prior to that, he was the senior accountant for Harold Voggesser, CPA.  Cook is a 1982 graduate of Creston High School and a 1984 graduate of SWCC.

Professional affiliations for Cook include being a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Iowa Society of Certified Public Accountants (ISCPA).  He serves on the ISCPA Government Accounting and Auditing Committee.

Dr. Barb Crittenden, SWCC president, is looking forward to having Cook on the college’s management team.

“We were fortunate to be able to hire someone with Randy’s experience and qualifications,” Crittenden stated.  “His years of experience auditing the college [as audit manager with Draper, Snodgrass, Mikkelsen & Co.] give him a head start in the position.”

While Cook says he had a difficult decision to make following his tenure with the accounting firm, he is excited to be joining the team at the college.

“Southwestern has continued to grow and expand through the years, making it a major asset in our region,” Cook explained.  “I look forward to playing a role in the future growth of the college.”

In the Creston community, Cook has been active as a past officer with the Creston Chamber of Commerce; a member of the Salem Lutheran Church, currently serving as Endowment Fund treasurer; and past treasurer of the Creston Activities Booster Club.

Cook and his wife, Joni, have three sons.  He will start at the college on Mon., September 29.
