A Broadway hit first produced on the West End and filmed twice, Gas Light tells the story of the Manninghams who live on Angel Street in 19th Century London. As the curtain rises, all appears the essence of Victorian tranquility. It is soon apparent however, that Mr. Manningham, a suavely handsome man, is slowly driving his gentle, devoted wife Bella, to the brink of insanity in a methodically evil way. One afternoon while he is out gallivanting around London, Mrs. Manningham has an unexpected caller: amiable, paternal former Inspector Rough from Scotland Yard. Rough is convinced that Manningham is a homicidal maniac wanted for a murder committed 15 years earlier in this very house. Gradually the inspector restores Bella's confidence in herself and the evidence against Manningham unfolds. The play is an intense drama that keeps people on the edge of their seats, and constantly questioning the sanity of the characters. Gas Light is one of the most brilliant, suspenseful sequences in modern theatre.
The production will be black box style, so there are limited seats. Just 40 seats will be available per night, as the audience will be on the stage with the actors – making for an intense experience.
