On Fri., December 4, Southwestern Community College's survey of world religions class took a field trip to Des Moines to visit six religious groups and tour their facilities.
Stops during the field trip included the Hindu Temple and Cultural Center, Sikh Temple, Grace Church, St George’s Greek Orthodox Church, Temple B’nai Jeshurun (Jewish Synagogue) and Islamic Center. During the visits, class members had opportunities to see inside the different facilities and hear from leaders within each religion about their core beliefs and practices.
The survey of world religions class is offered fall and spring semesters and covers 11 major religions from around the world. The course is taught by Dr. Todd Daily.
