Comedian and do-gooder Ricky Smith from Los Angeles, CA, was on campus, Tues., September 15, 2015, to share his Random Acts of Kindness Everywhere (#RAKE) philosophy with SWCC students.
#RAKE is a non-profit organization committed to sharing and showing people performing acts of kindness to inspire others. Smith has traveled the country completing random acts of kindness as simple as free hugs to more elaborate ventures such as renting an ice cream truck and giving away free ice cream all day. One of Smith's upcoming acts include 31 makeovers in 31 days where he will offer makeovers to homeless individuals in various cities.
Students are encouraged to complete their own #RAKE activities between now and SWCC Week, October 19-24, 2015. During SWCC Week, students will have the opportunity to post their activities on a #RAKE-inspired wall in the Student Center.
