CRESTON—Southwestern Community College (SWCC) recently received word from the United States Department of Education that funding has been renewed for the college’s TRIO Talent Search (TS) program. The $2.1 million grant will be funded at $438,253 per year for five years. This is an increase of $300,000 from the previous grant, which was a total of $1.8 million over five years.

Southwestern Community College will be offering three vaccination clinics during Fall 2021 Move-In Weekend. The clinics, which will offer the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine as well as the flu vaccine, will be held:
- Aug. 21 and 22, 11 a.m.-3 p.m., Student Center
- Aug. 25, 9 a.m.-1 p.m., Instructional Center, room 220

Southwestern Community College is excited to announce Sergio Sandoval of Osceola has been selected as a Lockheed Martin Vocational Scholarship recipient. Recipients receive $6,600 awards toward their studies!

The 2021 issue of the Southwestern Magazine is now available online! The magazine is a joint effort of the SWCC Education Foundation and the college's marketing department. Features in this year's issue include Dr. Barb Crittenden's retirement as SWCC president, an introduction to SWCC's incoming president Dr. Marjorie Welch, an overview of Spartan athletics during 2020-21, an article detailing how the COVID-19 pandemic affected SWCC courses, and a feature on Chris Guess, SWCC alumni and the 2021 All-Iowa Girls' Basketball Coach of the Year.

Jackson, Mississippi — Payton Luther, a student at Southwestern Community College in Creston, Iowa, and Creston High School graduate, is one of 207 Phi Theta Kappa members named a 2021 Coca-Cola Leaders of Promise Scholar.

CRESTON — Representatives from Southwestern Community College (SWCC) were on-hand Wednesday, July 14, 2021, at Osceola Food, a local manufacturing facility owned by Hormel Foods Corporation (NYSE:HRL), to sign five Osceola Food employees for SWCC’s industrial technology program and one Osceola Food employee for SWCC’s electrical technology program in Creston.

Southwestern Community College announced a partnership with Bunn-O-Matic Corporation to provide full tuition scholarships to Southwestern students who work at BUNN. This program will begin with the fall 2021 semester.
