During the 2024 Meals from the Heartland event, held on Wednesday, April 24, from 10 a.m.-2 p.m., as part of Southwestern Community College's (SWCC's) annual Pay it Forward Week, 100,000 meals were packaged, setting a new record for the event!
A huge thank you to everyone who was a part of the day--including the Union County Development Association's (UCDA's) Lead UC leadership group, and the 49 teams packaging, totaling 415 volunteers!
This event is possible each year due to the collaboration between UCDA and SWCC! The meals packaged are distributed worldwide. SWCC has hosted Meals from the Heartland since 2013. During the 2013 event, 12,000 meals were packaged in two and a half hours. The UCDA began partnering with SWCC in 2016.
Pay it Forward Week at SWCC encourages positive behaviors and service to the community.
