Commencement ceremonies will take place on Friday, May 8, 2026.

The 2026 Southwestern Community College commencement ceremonies will be held on Friday, May 8, 2026, in the Student Center gymnasium, on the Creston campus.

The ceremonies will be held at the following times:

  • 4 p.m. - Licensed Practical Nursing Commencement and Lamplighting Recognition and Associate Degree Nursing Commencement and Pinning Ceremony
  • 7 p.m. - Career and Technical Education (CTE) and Arts and Sciences (college transfer) Commencement Ceremony

Graduates, please check your email for important graduation information from the SWCC registrar’s office. Your commencement instructions are in those emails.

Faculty and staff commencement instructions:

Full-time faculty and staff, do you plan to participate in spring commencement on Friday, May 8, walking with our graduates during the ceremony?

If so, you should have already told Alyssa Riley, registrar, This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it., which commencement ceremony you plan to attend. If you have not done so yet, email her by the end of the day Wednesday, April 29. Additionally, please let her know if you plan to give your loved one their degree (if you have a family member graduating this year).

The Licensed Practical Nursing Commencement and Lamplighting Recognition and Associate Degree Nursing Commencement and Pinning Ceremony is at 4 p.m. Faculty and staff participating in that ceremony need to be dressed in cap and gown, lined up, and ready to go by 3:30 p.m. in the Administration Center.

The Career and Technical Education and Arts and Sciences Commencement Ceremony is at 7 p.m. Faculty and staff who are participating in that ceremony need to be dressed in cap and gown, lined up, and ready to go by 6:30 p.m. in the Administration Center.

Any faculty/staff leaving SWCC at the end of this academic year should return his/her gown and regalia to Alyssa Riley in the registrar's office.
