Congratulations to Southwestern Community College's (SWCC's) 40 High School Equivalency Diploma (HSED) graduates from the class of 2025-26, 13 of whom attended the annual HSED graduation held on Thursday, June 25, 2026, at 7 p.m., in the SWCC Performing Arts Center theater on the Creston campus.

Southwestern Community College’s (SWCC’s) automotive programs were recently awarded a $3,945 grant from the Iowa Automobile Dealers Association (IADA) Foundation for Education to purchase three weld stations to be utilized in the college’s automotive programs.

Two Southwestern Community College auto collision repair/refinish students—Rachel Becker of Pleasant Hill and Logan Nunnikhoven of Newton—placed in the Top 10 during the 2026 SkillsUSA National Leadership and Skills Conference (NLSC), from June 1-5 in Atlanta.

Part of the 2026 Southwestern Registered Nursing Class ended their clinical rotation by visiting the Kavanaugh Hospice House, the Clarinda Correctional Facility, and Central Iowa Shelter. These settings have provided valuable insight into caring for individuals from diverse backgrounds and life circumstances with compassion, dignity, and respect.

Gabriel Espinosa, Southwestern Community College (SWCC) adjunct professional music instructor, recently released a jazz album entitled, The Brazilian Project.

Southwestern Community College's main entrance, turning north off of Townline Street/Highway 25 and entering on the south side of campus, will be closed for reconstruction this summer. During the construction phase, plan to access campus on the east side turning west from Green Valley Road onto either Southwestern Boulevard or Spartan Drive.

Three students from Southwestern Community College’s Business Professionals of America (BPA) chapter joined nearly 7,000 members from across the world at the 2026 BPA National Leadership Conference, held May 6–10, in Nashville.
