A ribbon-cutting ceremony was held on Thursday, Aug. 20, 2026, at 1 p.m., to celebrate the opening of the Mount Ayr CTE Academy, located south of Mount Ayr High School.

Creston— The Southwestern Community College (SWCC) board of directors met in special session on Monday, Aug. 24, 2026, at 8:30 a.m., in the college’s Administration Center to approve the employment of Nicholas Jackson as an English instructor for the 2026-27 academic year.

The third annual Get the Scoop advising event will be held on Thursday, August 27, from 12-1 p.m. in the Instructional Center, room 180.
Get the Scoop is a come-and-go event where students are encouraged to have a quick meet-and-greet with their academic advisors, and then receive their SWCC logo mood cups for FREE ice cream from the ice cream truck located in the main parking lot outside of the Instructional Center!
