Gabriel Espinosa, Southwestern Community College (SWCC) adjunct professional music instructor, recently released a jazz album entitled, The Brazilian Project.
He partnered with 14 Brazilian musicians to complete the project. Espinosa composed all of the music and produced the album himself. The music was recorded in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
Espinosa said he started listening to Brazilian music in the mid-1960s, and had always dreamed of recording his songs with a small big band of Brazilian musicians. He recorded his first solo album, From Yucatan to Rio, in 2009.
In addition to instructing at SWCC's School for Music Vocations, Espinosa has taught at Central College and Grinnell College.
