Four Southwestern Community College Student Senate members attended the Student Legislative Seminar, hosted by Community Colleges for Iowa (CCforIowa), at Curate in Des Moines on Tuesday, March 3, 2026.

During the event, students were welcomed by Emily Shields, CCforIowa executive director; heard 2026 legislative priorities; completed breakout sessions; received advocacy training; and listened to a community college presentation to the House Higher Education Committee.
Students were accompanied to the event by Hailey Graham and Sydney Smith, Student Senate advisors.
