An annual publication of the Southwestern Community College Education Foundation
The Southwestern Magazine came to life in October 1980 as the Southwestern Quarterly. In 1984, the publication transitioned to The Southwestern. The first color issue was printed in Fall 1998 when the magazine switched to biannual printing. After a brief period as The Southwestern Community College Magazine, the publication landed on its current name for the Special 40-year edition in 2006, celebrating the college's 40th anniversary. In Spring 2011, after more than 50 previous issues, the Southwestern Community College Education Foundation shifted the once quarterly newsletter to its current annual schedule.
The magazine is a product of a joint effort of the SWCC Education Foundation and marketing department. Throughout the years, this publication has highlighted new educational programs, student and employee awards and honors, alumni success stories, gifts to the college, campus expansion and activities, personnel changes, Hall-of-Fame inductions, as well as remember the lives of SWCC greats that we have lost. This collection serves as a great historical record of SWCC's past.
