students holding helmets

Tools for the auto collision repair/refinish program are provided by the college for students. To keep costs down, auto instructors and the program's advisory committee made the decision to provide this benefit for Southwestern students; however, if students want to bring their own tools, that is fine as well.

Upon graduation, your instructors, as well as the advisory committee members, do stress the importance of the purchase of tools for everyone seeking employment in the field. You cannot be hired without them. Matco tools, Mac tools, Craftsman and Snap-On tools are offered as sets at greatly reduced prices while you are a student at SWCC.

Your instructors and the advisory committee have compiled the following list with costs in mind, but also what they consider as a minimum requirement for an entry-level technician. Please engrave your tools to prevent them from getting lost or stolen.
