Southwestern Community College in Creston is hosting a National Alternative Fuel Vehicle (AFV) Day Odyssey, known as Odyssey Day on Thursday, October 18, 2012, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., in the automotive area of the Instructional Center on the Creston campus. Odyssey Day will be focused on looking at the use of alternative fuels and learning about advanced technology vehicles.
During the event, participants will be able to view alternative fuel vehicles and listen to speakers on a variety of topics such as wind energy, ethanol production using corn and algae, alternative fuel programs, etc. Vendors and presenters will include Iowa Clean Cities, Green Plains, NatGas Services, Wolverine Wind Energy, Stalker Chevrolet, and many more. This event is open to the public.
On October 18, SWCC will be one of approximately 150 organizations nationwide to host an Odyssey Day event. In 2002, National Alternative Fuel Vehicle (AFV) Day Odyssey was established as a biennial, outreach and education event to promote the use of alternative fuel and advanced technology vehicles. It was conceptualized and continues to be coordinated by the National Alternative Fuels Training Consortium (NAFTC), a program of West Virginia University headquartered in Morgantown, WV.
