The 2012 Education Foundation Donor Scholar Dinner was held Tues., November 13, 2012, at 6:30 p.m. in room 180 of the Instructional Center. Almost 200 individuals were in attendance. The evening provided a wonderful opportunity for Southwestern Community College Education Foundation donors to meet and visit with the students receiving the scholarships they funded.
Speakers for the evening included:
Melanie Petty (photo above right), donor - Petty is the mother of the late Trevor Frederickson, a former SWCC student-athlete and graduate of the automotive repair technology program. Frederickson played baseball for the Spartans during the 2006-07 and 2007-08 school years. He graduated with his associate of applied science degree in June 2008. In 2009, he was killed in an apartment fire. Petty touched many hearts last evening with her kind words and the memories she shared about her son. She and her family strive to keep Trevor's legacy alive through efforts such as the scholarship's donated in his name.
