SWCC’s 2012 Pay it Forward (PIF) Week will be held April 16-20, 2012. During PIF Week, SWCC students, faculty, and staff get involved in encouraging positive behaviors and service to the community. Specific details about activities for the week will be available on the SWCC website next week.
PIF Week started in 2009 with 10 students and has spread across campus and the community. There are little things you can do--hold the door for someone, thank a mentor, write a note of encouragement to someone with an illness, pay for the next person’s coffee at the drive-up, or help an elderly member of the community with yard work. It is easy to have a positive impact on the community.

Joan Becker will be at Southwestern Community College’s Creston campus presenting “A Mother’s Story” on Thurs., March 29, 2012, from 1-3 p.m. in room 220 of the Instructional Center. Joan is the mother of Mark Becker, who was convicted in 2010 of the murder of Ed Thomas, a well-known football coach from Aplington-Parkersburg High School.

Southwestern Community College's annual iHire Employment Fair is scheduled for Wed., April 4, 2012, from 12:30 to 3:30 p.m., in the Student Center gymnasium on SWCC’s Creston campus. More than 40 employers are expected, representing business and industry, education, and the military.
The Osceola high school carpentry class will be traveling to Joplin, MO, from March 11-17, 2012, to assist with rebuilding efforts following the Joplin tornados. Charlie Mundy, SWCC carpentry instructor, organized the trips through the Fuller Center for Housing. Fourteen students, two chaperones, and Mundy will be making the trip.
