Wear your SWCC colors and head to the Student Center on Tues., September 1, for the Spartan volleyball home opener vs Grand View. The tailgate is free and the menu includes pulled pork sandwiches, chips, and pasta salad (drinks available for purchase in the concession stand).
5-6:30 p.m. - Tailgate with food, bag games, and music
6:30 p.m. - SWCC vs Grand View volleyball

Ed and Marge Naven of Creston, formerly of Lenox, donated funds for the purchase of a drone for Southwestern Community College (SWCC) in Creston to utilize for educational and marketing purposes. The drone, a DJI Phantom 3 Professional, includes a camera giving SWCC the ability to complete aerial filming. The Navens have been long-time supporters of the college.

Drama Club Hosting Lemonade Stand - The Drama Club is hosting a lemonade stand to benefit Gigi's Playhouse, a facility for people with Downs Syndrome, on Thurs., September 3, from 10 a.m.-3:30 p.m. in the Instructional Center. All proceeds go to Gigi's. According to Kelly Franklin, Drama Club sponsor, one of the club's Summer Drama Camp students has a sibling that attends Gigi's. Franklin said this is a nice way for everyone at SWCC to help support a great cause.

NEW! Due to the renovation underway in the 200-bay hallway of the Instructional Center, there are a number of classrooms and offices that will be temporarily relocated for the fall 2015 semester. The classroom changes have been updated on the Fall 2015 Schedule of Classes document on the college website as well. Students, please view this document to verify the location for each of your classes.

The SWCC admissions department is now hiring for 2015-16 student ambassadors! The college's student ambassadors assist the admissions team throughout the year with activities such as campus tours, meeting with future students and their parents, communicating with future students via text messaging and social networking, accompanying recruiters to college fairs and high school visits, and working office hours in the admissions department.
Interviews and hiring will take place during the first few weeks of classes. Complete the Student Ambassador Application now or learn more on the student ambassador Web pages. The application deadline is August 31.

Creston, IA—Jerry Smith, Southwestern Community College (SWCC) board of trustees member from Osceola, received the 2015 John P. Kibbie Award during the Iowa Association of Community College Trustees (IACCT) annual conference held at Indian Hills Community College in Ottumwa from July 22-24, 2015.
