Creston— The Southwestern Community College (SWCC) board of directors met on Tuesday, June 8, 2021, at 5:30 p.m., for their regular board meeting.
In personnel, the board moved to extend the contracts of Lindsay Stoaks, vice president of instruction, and John Franklin, assistant vice president of instruction, through June 30, 2022, with salary increases of 3.25 percent.

New students for fall 2021, we can't wait to have you on campus!! If you haven't already done so, please check your email for information from the SWCC admissions department about SWCC's Online New Student Orientation. All new students are required to complete orientation prior to starting classes on August 25 (NOTE: High school students registered for dual enrollment courses will receive information in August regarding their orientation from the secondary programs office).

The community is invited to attend a retirement reception in honor of Dr. Barb Crittenden, Southwestern Community College president, on Thursday, June 24, from 2-4 p.m., in the Allied Health & Science Center on the SWCC Creston campus, 1501 W. Townline Street, Creston.

Southwestern Community College (SWCC) has signed and returned the Higher Education Emergency Relief Fund II (HEERF II) authorized by the Coronavirus Response and Relief Supplemental Appropriations Act, 2021 (CRRSAA) which provides additional emergency financial aid grants to students.

Gov. Kim Reynolds signed a bill last night banning mask mandates in public schools, as well as banning cities and counties from mandating masks in businesses. The bill, HF 847, goes into effect immediately. Due to these new state mandates, face coverings will be optional for all individuals in Southwestern Community College facilities.

The Southwestern Community College board of trustees approved Dr. Marjorie McGuire-Welch of Afton as its next college president during a special meeting, held electronically this morning at 8 a.m., in the board room of the college’s Administration Center. McGuire-Welch becomes the fifth president in Southwestern’s history.

Creston— The Southwestern Community College (SWCC) board of directors met for their regular meeting on Tuesday, May 11, 2021, at 5:30 p.m., in the Agricultural Sciences Center.
Following a report by Tia Samo, SWCC chief financial officer, the board approved a $5 per credit hour tuition increase for the 2021-22 academic year. With this increase, SWCC’s in-state tuition and fees will be $202 per credit hour and out-of-state tuition and fees will be $209 per credit hour. Proposed changes to the course fees for the following classes were approved as well: ADN 561 medical surgical nursing II; PNN 172 fundamentals of nursing; MUA 101 applied voice; and MUA 201 applied voice II.

The Spartan Cafe will begin its summer hours on Monday, May 10. The Caf' will be open 8 a.m.-12:30 p.m., Monday through Friday.
The Spartan Cafe is located on the upper level of the Student Center.
