The SWCC Education Foundation’s annual Donor-Scholar Dinner was held on the evening of Monday, Nov. 13, 2017, in the Student Center gymnasium. The evening provided a wonderful expression of gratitude for foundation donors, as well as celebration for the academic successes of the college’s students.

Creston— The Southwestern Community College (SWCC) board of trustees met electronically on Tuesday, Nov. 14, 2017, at 7:30 a.m. in the president’s office in the college’s Administration Center.
The board approved corporate authorization resolutions for Houghton State Bank, First National Bank, Clarke County State Bank, and Iowa State Savings Bank.

Beta Eta Nu, Southwestern’s chapter of the Phi Theta Kappa International Honor Society, will hold their Fall 2017 Informal Induction for new members on Wednesday, Nov. 15, 2017, at 5:30 p.m. in the Instructional Center, room 180, on the Creston campus.

The Southwestern Community College (SWCC) Chamber Singers will be touring in the Des Moines area the week of Nov. 27-Dec. 1, 2017, presenting “Holiday Carols in Concert” with carols and masterworks by Mendelssohn, Rutter, McGlynn, Mattson, and J.S. Bach; as well as pieces written by directors Ryan Howe and Grammy-nominated Dr. Jeremy Fox.

Jackson, MS – Sara Sanson, of Lorimor, a student at Southwestern Community College, in Creston, IA, is one of 207 Phi Theta Kappa members named a 2017 Coca-Cola Leaders of Promise Scholar and will receive a $1,000 scholarship.
