The Writing Center has announced its hours for spring 2018 semester. Beginning this Wednesday, Jan. 31, the center will host a writing workshop each Wednesday at 1 p.m., in the Instructional Center, room 140.

Six Southwestern Community College (SWCC) Student Senate members attended the 30th annual Iowa Association for Community College Trustees (IACCT) Student Legislative Seminar at the state capitol in Des Moines on Wednesday, Jan. 24, 2018.

Students may register for e2Campus at any time to receive alerts on their cell phones from Southwestern Community College. Alert messages include emergency alerts, college closings, instructor absences, events and activities, and residence hall information. When students register with e2Campus, they will select which alerts they would like to receive. Students may login to SWCCyou and follow the link to the e2Campus login page displayed on the left-hand side of the page. They may create an account from the linked page.

Microsoft offers Office 365 for free to Southwestern Community College students.
To get started, visit https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/microsoft-365/download-office and then choose Windows or Mac.
Once the program is installed, sign-in with the same user name and password you use for your SWCC webmail account.
(Chromebook users will not be able to download Office 365, however they can use the cloud based version of the apps by visiting https://m365.cloud.microsoft/apps and signing in with your SWCC webmail account. Then you can click which app you want to use).

Camblin Mechanical, Inc., of Atlantic, was recently awarded the 2017 Award of Excellence, for projects between $250,000 and $1 million, from the Associated Builders and Contractors of Iowa for the work they completed during the renovation of Southwestern Community College’s Instructional Center, room 220.

The SWCC golf team is hosting a dodgeball competition. Feb. 1, 2018, at 7 p.m. in the Spartan Gym.
- $5 per person
- Six-person teams
- Must have one female on every team
- Must have one SWCC student on every team (can be dual-enrolled)
- Cash payout depending on number of teams
- Single-elimination bracket-style tournament

Creston— The Southwestern Community College board of trustees met electronically on Tues., January 9, 2018, at 7:30 a.m., for their regular monthly board meeting. The meeting originated from the president’s office in the Administration Center.
