Mark your calendars for these upcoming SWCC student activities!
- Wednesday, August 30 - Tailgating, Prior to the first home volleyball game, student activities will provide food and fun at the Student Center during tailgating, which begins at 6 p.m.. Volleyball game vs NIACC begins at 7 p.m.
- Wednesday, August 30 – Ice Cream Sundaes, 1-2:30 p.m., Student Center, upstairs. Head to the Student Center today for a free ice cream sundae!
- Wednesday, September 13 – Jim Wand, hypnotist, noon-1 p.m., Student Center gymnasium. Always a fan favorite, Jim Wand travels the world with this one-of-a-kind hypnotist show.
- Monday, September 18 – Constitution Day, cookies and Constitution Day information available in the Student Center throughout the day. Time to test your knowledge of the U.S. Constitution … and get a cookie in the process.
- Monday, September 25 – Think Fast Game Show, 11:45 a.m.-12:45 p.m., Instructional Center, room 220. Students are invited to get involved in this super fun game show and play for a chance to win $200! Yes, that’s right, $200!!
- Wednesday, October 4 – Campus Wide Cookout, Student Center, 11:30 a.m.-1 p.m. Students and employees are invited to lunch (FOR FREE!) in the Student Center. The menu will be hamburgers, hot dogs, chips, cookies, and a drink!

Microsoft offers Office 365 for free to Southwestern Community College students.
To get started, visit https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/microsoft-365/download-office and then choose Windows or Mac.
Once the program is installed, sign-in with the same user name and password you use for your SWCC webmail account.
(Chromebook users will not be able to download Office 365, however they can use the cloud based version of the apps by visiting https://m365.cloud.microsoft/apps and signing in with your SWCC webmail account. Then you can click which app you want to use).

The Spartan Cafe will open for Fall 2017 semester on Monday, Aug. 21! The Caf', as it is referred to, is located on the SWCC Creston campus in the Student Center and operated by Consolidated Management.

A group of Southwestern Community College (SWCC) staff members attended the annual Adult Education and Literacy Conference in Ankeny, from July 18-20, 2017, at the FFA Enrichment Center on DMACC's campus. The conference, titled "Building Your Future with Adult Education," showcased more than 40 breakout sessions with speakers from across the country.

Creston— The Southwestern Community College (SWCC) board of directors met electronically on Tuesday, July 11, 2017, at 7:30 a.m. in the president’s office in the college’s Administration Center for their regular board meeting.
The board approved the hiring of Brooke Owen, nursing instructor, and Josh Keul, electrical technology instructor, for the 2017-18 academic year.
