Sarah Nolte, Crisis Intervention & Advocacy Center (CIAC) advocate, will have office hours at Southwestern Community College (SWCC) in the Instructional Center, room 727 (upstairs, across from the TRIO-SSS offices), every Friday during the spring 2017 semester, from 9 a.m.-3 p.m., or by appointment, to provide advocacy for survivors of domestic and sexual abuse, as well as their supporters.

This Saturday, Feb. 4, 2017, the Spartan women's and men's basketball teams play NIACC at 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. respectively, in the Student Center gymnasium. Show your Spartan spirit by wearing tropical island attire for the games!
The Dazzlers dance team will be performing at the halftimes of both games.

IMPORTANT NOTE TO SWCC STUDENTS: Refund checks for spring 2017 semester will be available for students to pick up at the business office in the Administration Center on Friday, Feb. 17, not Friday, Feb. 10, as previously announced.

You are invited to register for an interactive workshop, Community by Design, scheduled for Wednesday, Feb. 8, from 12:30-3:15 p.m., in Southwestern Community College's Instructional Center, room 180.
This interactive workshop will unpack the concepts of diversity and inclusion, as well as offer an examination of the most common and fundamental barriers to actually providing an inclusive experience, for example, the roles played by unwritten rules, and unconscious or implicit bias.

Creston, IA—Tom Lesan, Southwestern Community College (SWCC) vice president of economic development, was honored at the college’s all-staff in-service, held on Friday, Jan. 13, 2017, for achieving 35 years of service to the institution.

Creston— The Southwestern Community College board of trustees met on Tues., January 10, 2017, at 8 a.m. in the president’s office in the Administration Center for their regular monthly board meeting.
During the meeting, the board approved the early retirement request of Jason Smith, SWCC professional music instructor, at the end of his current contract. Smith has been a music instructor at the college since August 1992.
