Southwestern Community College auto collision repair/refinish student Shelby Woods and electrical technology student Daniel Leonard took home first place honors at the Iowa SkillsUSA 2016 competition in Ankeny on Fri., April 29, 2016. They will now represent Iowa at the national competition, which will be held during SkillsUSA’s National Leadership and Skills Conference, June 20-24, 2016, in Louisville, KY.
Woods, of Madison, MO, was named gold medalist in automotive refinishing technology. She earned her Associate of Applied Science degree in collision repair/refinish from SWCC in early-May.
Leonard, of Mount Ayr, won the electrical construction wiring category. He will earn his Associate of Applied Science degree in electrical technology in June.
Other SWCC students medaling in the SkillsUSA state competition included:

- Jonathan Duncan of Villisca, electrical construction wiring, third place
- Adam Steffes of Audubon, collision repair technology, third place
