The Iowa Community College Online Consortium (ICCOC), of which Southwestern Community College is a member, recently adopted Canvas by Instructure as its new Learning Management System (LMS).
A Learning Management System is an online learning platform for teaching and learning. Prior to this switch, the ICCOC utilized Pearson Learning Studio as its platform. A pilot will begin in the spring of 2017 and Canvas will be fully deployed by fall 2017.

Creston— The Southwestern Community College (SWCC) board of directors met on Tuesday, July 12, 2016, at 5:30 p.m. in the board room of the college’s Administration Center for their regular board meeting.
A public hearing was held on the remodeling project planned for room 220 of the Instructional Center. No oral or written objections or petitions were heard or submitted.

Theo Piniau, a May 2015 graduate of Southwestern Community College, has been selected by Athletics Papua New Guinea to compete in the men’s 200m dash at the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro this August.

Have you ever wondered what it feels like to operate an excavator or forklift? Here's your opportunity to find out.
Southwestern Community College's adult and continuing education department, in cooperation with IowaWORKS, is bringing a construction simulator to the Technical Center parking lot on campus, 1501 W Townline Street in Creston, on June 29 and 30, from 8 a.m.-4 p.m.
Girls and women are highly encouraged to attend this event, which is being funded by the Walmart Foundation. All ages are welcome! Statistics show 10 percent of all workers in the construction industry are women. Efforts like these will help those numbers continue to grow.
A donation lunch will be provided from 11 a.m.-1 p.m., by Creston IJAG and the East Union Art Club.
