Southwestern's athletic department is hosting its 17th Annual Four-Person Best Shot Golf Tournament on Sat., May 28, 2016, at Crestmoor Golf Club in Creston. Tee times are 8 a.m. and 2 p.m.

Creston— The Southwestern Community College (SWCC) board of directors met Tuesday, April 12, 2016, at 5:30 p.m. in the Administration Center on the Creston campus.

Due to the weather, the SWCC 5K Tie Dye Retro Run/Walk scheduled for today at 5:30 p.m. has been postponed until tomorrow, Tues., April 19, at the same time (5:30 p.m.). The event will begin at the same location (north of the Performing Arts Center on the SWCC campus).

Grab a cup of coffee, relax, and enjoy as students from Southwestern Community College's professional music program perform at Adams Street Espresso, 213 W. Adams Street, in Creston, on Fri., April 22, 2016, from 7-9 p.m., during SWCC Jazz Night.
Various small ensembles will be performing vocal and instrumental music such as R&B, funk, and vocal jazz. Approximately 20 students will perform throughout the evening. This event is open to the public.

Mason City, Iowa – TRACES Center for History and Culture is bringing its mobile exhibit (shown in photo above), “At Home in the Heartland: Forgotten Stories of How Iowans Got to be ‘Us,’” to the Southwestern Community College Creston campus on Thurs., April 21, 2016, from 8:30-11:30 a.m. The exhibit is housed in a retrofitted school bus, the “BUS-eum.”

CRESTON—High school freshmen who participate in the Educational Talent Search (ETS) program will have the opportunity to take part in an overnight campus visit on Tues., May 10, at the Southwestern Community College Creston campus. Space is limited to the first 20 participants.

Beta Eta Nu, the Southwestern Community College (SWCC) chapter of Phi Theta Kappa, held its spring induction ceremony on Sun., April 3, 2016, at 3 p.m., in room 180 of the Instructional Center. Bill Huntington, principal at Sidney High School and former career and technical education recruiter and cross country/track and field coach at SWCC, was the guest speaker for the event.
