Creston, IOWA--Southwestern Community College's School for Music Vocations (SMV) singer/songwriter ensemble MULTIPLICITY will release an album, entitled “One,” on October 28, 2022. The SMV Multiplicity album, directed by SMV faculty member Kathryn Severing-Fox, is a seven-song EP that will be released on all music sites, including Apple Music, Spotify, Amazon Music, and YouTube.

Southwestern Community College (SWCC) automotive students Koby Namanny of Cumberland and Wyatt Vasey of Winterset each recently received a $2,500 scholarship for the fall 2022 semester from the Iowa Automobile Dealers Foundation for Education (IADA).

Creston— The Southwestern Community College (SWCC) board of directors met Tuesday, Oct. 11, 2022, at 5:30 p.m., in the board room of the Administration Center.
The board approved consent agenda items, including the tentative agenda, payables, and depository resolution.

Southwestern Community College (SWCC) has signed and returned to the Department the Certification and Agreement and the assurance that SWCC will use the applicable amount of funds designated by the Supplemental Support under the American Rescue Plan (SSARP) program which provides Emergency Financial Aid Grants to Students.

Representatives from Iowa State University were on the SWCC Creston campus four separate days during the past two weeks--Sept. 26 and 27 and Oct. 3 and 4--to share Parenting: It’s a Life through Iowa State with SWCC College Experience students.

The college's 12th annual SWCC Week/Alcohol Awareness Week will be held Oct. 17-21, 2022! Fun FREE events are planned for SWCC students throughout the week. Some highlights include a campus-wide cookout, grocery bingo, Tricky Treating, and a pumpkin decorating contest.

On Wednesday, Oct. 5, 2022, keynote speaker Ethan Fisher will be on campus as part of 2022-23 Alcohol Awareness Week activities. Ethan’s story is unique and could be compelling to many SWCC students and employees.

Career & Technical Education (CTE) Day at Southwestern is Friday, Oct. 14, from 10 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. CTE Day offers high school students opportunities to explore various career fields and learn about related careers they could pursue. Lunch will be provided and there will be opportunities to tour student housing.
