SWCC Automotive Students Place at Iowa Auto Skills Contest in May

CRESTON — Southwestern Community College (SWCC) students Hunter Brown of Mt. Ayr and Cody Bristow of Creston placed seventh overall in the 2012 Iowa Ford/AAA Student Auto Skills Competition on Tuesday, May 8, 2012, at Des Moines Area Community College in Ankeny. This competition recognizes some of the best high school auto technicians in the state.
SWCC Auto Club Donates to Cancer Center

Southwestern Community College’s automotive repair technology club presented a check for $125 to the Greater Regional Cancer Center on Friday, March 16, 2012. The funds were raised during a recent T-shirt fundraiser by the organization. SWCC Automotive Students Place at Iowa Auto Skills Contest in March

Southwestern Community College (SWCC) students Cody Bristow of Creston High School and Robby Campbell of Orient-Macksburg High School placed first on the hands-on portion of the 2012 DMACC/IADA High School Automotive Skills Contest on Friday, March 2, 2012 at Des Moines Area Community College in Ankeny. This competition recognizes some of the best high school auto technicians in the state.
The two SWCC students qualified for the statewide competition following a written exam administered in December 2011. The top scoring teams were then invited to Ankeny to participate in the hands-on competition.
SWCC Automotive Club Selling Apparel

The Automotive Club is selling hats, hoodies, stocking caps, and T-shirts with the SWCC automotive logo (see photos at right). Costs follow: beanie (black), $14; hat (black with flame), $15; hoodie (black), $30; T-shirt (black, orange, pink, or purple), $16; stocking cap (orange), $14. Pink T-shirts will include the breast cancer symbol (ribbon) and for each T-shirt purchased, $2 will be donated to the breast cancer fund.
