Wanting to earn additional college credits during winter break? Southwestern offers a four-week online winterim session from Dec. 23-Jan. 22. Courses are available in a variety of subject areas including art, business, health, humanities, government, psychology, and sociology.

Southwestern Community College (SWCC) has signed and returned the Higher Education Emergency Relief Fund (HEERF) of the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act certification and agreement form and intends to use the funds to provide the mandated amount of at least 50 percent of the emergency financial aid grants to students.

Students who are planning to graduate at the end of the spring 2021 semester or a summer 2021 session should complete the graduation application in the SWCCyou portal. Login to SWCCyou and go to the ‘Students’ tab. Then click on ‘Forms.’

For a limited time, select residents of western Iowa, who have graduated from Southwestern Community College, are eligible for $1,000 scholarships to enroll in distance education programs at one of Iowa's three state universities.

The Workplace Learning Network (WLN), a member of the Iowa Intermediary Network, housed at Southwestern Community College provides work-based learning activities to Region 14 School Districts through appropriated Iowa Legislative funds. As a requirement of the grant funding, a yearly Business Needs Assessment is sent to business and industry professionals within Region 14, covering school districts: Bedford; Central Decatur; Clarke; Creston; Diagonal; East Union; Lamoni; Lenox; Mormon Trail; Mount Ayr; Murray; Nodaway Valley; Orient-Macksburg; Red Oak; Southwest Valley; and Stanton.

Southwestern Community College's Spring 2021 New Student Orientation will be offered virtually due to large group gathering restrictions in place because of the COVID-19 pandemic. New students should watch their email for additional details and instructions. Students will register for orientation utilizing the college’s online portal, SWCCyou. The email will provide instructions for how to login to SWCCyou so students may get started.
