Students and employees from Southwestern Community College (SWCC) will be sprinkling happiness in Creston on Monday, April 17, from 8-10 a.m., at the Stalker Chevrolet corner (corner of Hwy 25 & Hwy 34) and on the SWCC campus from 10 a.m.-12 p.m.

Creston, IOWA—The Southwestern Community College men’s basketball team made history on Saturday, March 25, 2017, in Danville, IL, by earning the college's first-ever National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) national championship! The Spartans defeated Louisburg College, from North Carolina, with a score of 77-53, to become the 2017 NJCAA DII National Men's Basketball Champions.

The Southwest Iowa STEM Hub sponsored a Corner Conference STEM Challenge to engage students in science, technology, engineering, and math learning on Tuesday, March 21, 2017, at the Southwestern Community College Red Oak Center.

Register now for SIFE's Be the Change 5K Run/Walk, which will take place in conjunction with PIF Week on Monday, April 17, 2017, starting at 5:30 p.m. The run/walk will begin north of the Performing Arts Center on the SWCC campus.

Selena Sampson, a student at Southwestern Community College (SWCC), has been named a 2017 Coca-Cola Community College Academic Team Silver Scholar. The Coca-Cola Scholars Foundation sponsors the Coca-Cola Community College Academic Team program by recognizing 50 Gold, 50 Silver and 50 Bronze Scholars, and providing nearly $200,000 in scholarships annually. Each Silver Scholar receives a $1,250 scholarship and a special medallion.

The Southwestern Community College (SWCC) board of trustees held its regular meeting on Tuesday, March 14, 2017, at 5:30 p.m. in the board room of the Administration Center.
A public hearing was held for the college’s fiscal year 2018 budget. No oral or written objections or petitions were heard or submitted. The board approved the budget as presented.
