Beta Eta Nu, Southwestern’s chapter of the Phi Theta Kappa International Honor Society, will hold their Fall 2017 Informal Induction for new members on Wednesday, Nov. 15, 2017, at 5:30 p.m. in the Instructional Center, room 180, on the Creston campus.

Chamber Singers to Perform in Des Moines Area Nov. 27-Dec. 1

The Southwestern Community College (SWCC) Chamber Singers will be touring in the Des Moines area the week of Nov. 27-Dec. 1, 2017, presenting “Holiday Carols in Concert” with carols and masterworks by Mendelssohn, Rutter, McGlynn, Mattson, and J.S. Bach; as well as pieces written by directors Ryan Howe and Grammy-nominated Dr. Jeremy Fox.

Student Activities Planned for November

Various student activities are being planned for the month of November at SWCC! Students, watch for registration information and plan to join in the fun at these activities:

  • Capture the Flag, Thursday, Nov. 2, noon, Spartan Suites - Meet at the Spartan Suites lobby at 12 p.m. to divide into teams. Then work with your team to capture the flag and return it to your side of campus. Dress warm. Need not pre-register for this event.
  • Group Trivia Night, Wednesday, Nov. 8, 7:30 p.m., Spartan Suites lobby - Watch for sign-up sheets outside Tracey Evans' office in the Student Center. For this event, you will need to sign up as a team of four. Questions will be from various categories. There will be prizes for the winning teams!

Jackson, MS – Sara Sanson, of Lorimor, a student at Southwestern Community College, in Creston, IA, is one of 207 Phi Theta Kappa members named a 2017 Coca-Cola Leaders of Promise Scholar and will receive a $1,000 scholarship.
