On Monday, Dec. 11, 2017, Iowa Select Farms and the Deb and Jeff Hansen Foundation will give away 500 pork loins to anyone in need in Creston. Starting at 7 a.m., Iowa Select Farms employees will gather in Southwestern Community College's main parking lot to hand out free, five-pound pork loins to anyone in need. The event is expected to end at 9 a.m. IMPORTANT NOTE: Please enter at Southwestern Community College's main entrance off of Highway 25/Townline Street when coming to pickup pork loin. Turn right at the flagpole to proceed to the south end of the main parking lot where Iowa Select will be stationed. Southwestern students, please use one of the east entrances to campus, off of Lincoln Street, when coming to classes on Monday to avoid congestion.

The Southwestern Chamber Choir volunteered on Friday, Dec. 1, with Meals from the Heartland, at their Des Moines location on the last day of their five-day Holiday Carols in Concert tour.

The Southwestern Community College (SWCC) Drama Club will perform their third annual student, faculty, and community written plays on Friday, Dec. 8, and Saturday, Dec. 9, at 7 p.m. in the SWCC Performing Arts Center.

Admission to the performance is free, but monetary donations will be accepted and donated to the local Toys for Tots campaign.

The Southwestern Community College (SWCC) Disc Golf Club will be hosting the Fourth Annual Indoor Disc Golf Tournament on Thursday, Dec. 7, 2017, at 6:30 p.m. in the SWCC Student Center gymnasium in Creston.

The SWCC Education Foundation’s annual Donor-Scholar Dinner was held on the evening of Monday, Nov. 13, 2017, in the Student Center gymnasium. The evening provided a wonderful expression of gratitude for foundation donors, as well as celebration for the academic successes of the college’s students.
