SWCC's Phi Theta Kappa chapter, Beta Eta Nu, will host a meeting on Thursday, Nov. 30, at 2 p.m., in the Instructional Center, room 170. During the meeting, the group will be wrapping up fall semester projects and setting the stage for spring 2024.

The Southwestern Community College (SWCC) School for Music Vocations is hosting its 2023 SMV Variety Concert on Wednesday, Nov. 29, from 6:30-8:30 p.m., in the Instructional Center, room 180, and the public is invited.
The concert will feature the college’s chamber choir and concert choir, as well as the following groups: First Take, Audio Radiance, and the Townline Septet. Admission and hot chocolate will be FREE. Baked goods will be available for purchase.

Stop by the SWCC library when you have a chance to see the work of SWCC's fall 2023 digital photography students.
The projects you will see hanging in the library are the digital photography students' first projects. The course meets M-TH from 8:35-9:35 a.m. The project is exploring themes such as space, time, and location. The project is influenced by painter David Hockney’s creation of the “Joiner Collage.” Hockney would take hundreds of images of a single space and collage them together to use as reference images for his painting. They themselves gained quite a bit of attention because of how time is communicated with a medium that generally only frames a single moment in time.

The SWCC Automotive Club is sponsoring a raffle for a number of prize packages! Tickets are on sale for $1 per ticket. Automotive Club members will sell the tickets up to the time of the drawing, which will take place on Dec. 7, 2023, in the automotive department.

During tonight’s Southwestern Community College (SWCC) regular board meeting, held at 5:30 p.m., in the Administration Center on the college’s Creston campus, a President’s Chapter 279 Administrator Contract was approved for Lindsay Stoaks, SWCC interim president, making her the sixth president since SWCC’s inception in 1966.

Wanting to earn college credits during winter break? Southwestern Community College has a four-week online winterim term starting Friday, Dec. 22, 2023. Courses run Dec. 22-Jan.22.
Students at four-year colleges and universities may utilize these classes as a way to make up credits during winter break. These courses may be transferred back to the student's four-year university upon completion.

The Community Colleges for Iowa announced yesterday the 2023 winners of the annual Community Colleges for Iowa Awards. Two Southwestern Community College (SWCC) employees, Denise Kelley of Afton and Deb Roberts of Corning were among the honorees.
