CRESTON, Iowa—Southwestern Community College (SWCC) auto collision repair/refinish Career Academy student Jayden Dierks of Lorimor was named as the 2023 SWCC Gordon Bills Auto Body Scholarship recipient during an informal presentation held on Monday, May 22, at 9 a.m., in the college’s auto collision repair/refinish lab, located in the SWCC Instructional Center.

The W.D. and Shirley Schafer-Ray Educational Trust awarded more than $273,000 to 45 local students, 28 being Southwestern Community College (SWCC) students, for the 2023-24 academic year.

During the Southwestern Community College (SWCC) regular board meeting, held Tuesday, May 9, 2023, at 5:30 p.m., in the Administration Center on the SWCC Creston campus, Lindsay Stoaks of Lenox was appointed as interim president of the college.
Stoaks moves into the interim president role following three and a half years as SWCC’s vice president of instruction. As vice president of instruction, Stoaks directed all matters related to academic instruction, programs, services, and operations.

Creston— The Southwestern Community College (SWCC) board of directors met for their regular meeting on Tuesday, May 9, 2023, at 5:30 p.m., in the Administration Center board room.
The board held a public hearing on the proposal to convey property, located east of campus on Green Valley Road, to Greater Regional Health for the purpose of a parking lot at the new Greater Connections Childcare Development Center, currently under construction. No oral or written comments were received.
