Congratulations to the 2023 Welding Skills Challenge winners!
High school students were on campus on Thursday, April 6, 2023, in the welding technology department on the SWCC Creston campus to compete for 2023 welding technology honors. High School winners included Kayden Boswell, Red Oak HS, first place; Jacob Novak, Mount Ayr HS, second place; and Eli Vukonich, Red Oak HS, third place!

Southwestern Community College (SWCC) and the Union County Development Association (UCDA) will be hosting Meals from the Heartland on Wednesday, April 19, 2023, 10 a.m.-3 p.m., on the SWCC campus in the Student Center gymnasium.

The Southwestern Community College (SWCC) board of trustees held its regular meeting on Tuesday, March 14, 2023, at 5:30 p.m., in the board room of the Administration Center.
The board approved the minutes of the February board meeting. Following a few questions from board members related to college expenditures, the board approved the consent agenda.

Southwestern Community College's adult & continuing education department is offering MIG & TIG welding courses in April and May. Students will need to bring safety glasses, leather shoes, gauntlet-style welding gloves, and welding pliers. Welding helmets and coats will be provided.
Tuition assistance may be provided through the GAP Tuition Assistance program. Apply for assistance at www.swcciowa.edu/GAP.

March 10, 2023, CRESTON, IOWA--Three Southwestern Community College (SWCC) students—Alex Bates of Chariton, Brenna Bruns of Greenfield, and Hollie Washburn of King City, Missouri—were recently named to the 2023 All-Iowa Academic Team during a recognition ceremony sponsored by the Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society and held Monday, Feb. 27, at 6 p.m., at Curate in Des Moines.
