Creston— The Southwestern Community College (SWCC) board of directors met on Tuesday, Feb. 25, 2025, at 5:30 p.m. in the college’s Administration Center for its regular board meeting.

DES MOINES — Gov. Kim Reynolds and the Iowa Department of Education today awarded four Iowa community colleges nearly $4 million in competitive grants through the state’s Career Academy Incentive Fund. The grants support partnerships between community colleges, schools, industry, and community stakeholders to empower more students with multiple pathways to postsecondary success.

Three Southwestern Community College (SWCC) students – Dylan Anson, Jocelyn Burkhalter, and Franklin Pastorino – have been honored as members of the 2025 Phi Theta Kappa (PTK) Honor Society All-Iowa Academic Team. The announcement was made by Community Colleges for Iowa, who officially recognized the students at a banquet held in Des Moines on Feb. 18.

Southwestern’s annual Transfer Day will be held on Wednesday, Feb. 26, from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m., in room 180 of the Instructional Center.
During Transfer Day, SWCC students and advisors have opportunities to talk with transfer representatives from many four-year colleges and universities all in one place. No matter where students are in the transfer planning process, Transfer Day allows them to do everything from begin searching for a transfer school, to asking those last-minute questions before transfer.
